You Can Now Search for Images on Facebook by Describing Them

Facebook today updated its search function so that you can now search for photos by simple descriptions such as “pizza” or “dog”, regardless of whether they are tagged.
Search works in a similar way to what we saw in Apple Photos and Google Photos . Using object recognition, Facebook tries to sort all the photos in your Facebook feed to find images that match the description. So now you can search for anything from “cat pictures” to “black shirt photos” and get some kind of result even if those images are not tagged. Like Photos and Google Photos, this is still a little unpredictable, but it seems to do a pretty good job with the basics like distinguishing between obvious objects, points of interest, and scenes. Today, search is spreading to users in the United States.
