Hip Push-Ups Make the Plank Even More Challenging.

The plank is a great core exercise, but holding it like a statue is just one of many ways to work those muscles. This video shows a plank exercise you probably haven’t seen before, and is great for your obliques.

Your obliques are muscles on the sides of your torso, and you use them when you twist your body. Imagine that you are sitting in a chair and turning to talk to the person behind you – your oblique back muscles are making you move. If you are in a plank position, twisting your hips to the side gives these muscles extra work and gives you a break from the monotony of holding the plank position.

Try this trick and you will find it difficult but fun. Watch the video for a demo and explanation.
