SiteCop Doesn’t Distract You From Sites When You Need to Work

Chrome: If you need a little help keeping you from getting distracted from websites when you need to focus, or you want to give yourself some common sense and block certain topics, SiteCop can help. Once installed, let him know when and for how long you’ll be focused, give him the web addresses or keywords to block, and he’ll do the rest.

SiteCop is simple and free (although the developer accepts donations to keep the project up to date). You just tell him what websites you want to block, any special keywords to look out for (which can be a little aggressive, so be careful on that front), and then tell him what days he should be active. You can go ahead and specify what hours on these days it should also be active. You can even schedule specific hours when it should never be active, if you want it to never get in your way at specific times of the day.

As a bonus, the add-on even has a built-in Pomodoro timer that doesn’t distract you from the task, but also reminds you of good rest breaks before diving into your next task again. This is a great little addon with a lot of features, especially if you need a little help or even a quick sanity check asking you if you really want to go to YouTube or Amazon when you should write.
