HP Is Recalling Over 100,000 Laptop Batteries, Here’s How to Test Yours

HP is recalling batteries used in various of the company’s laptops over fire fears. Affected models include HP ProBook, HP ENVY, Compaq Presario, and HP Pavillion Notebook PCs sold between March 2013 and October 2016.

To check if your laptop battery has been recalled, go to the HP recall site and follow the instructions. You can either download a utility that will check your system, or you can manually check it. If your battery is listed, they recommend that you remove the battery immediately and disconnect external power until you get a replacement. Not all models are affected, but this is an extension from an earlier recall back in June 2016, so it’s worth checking again if you thought you were okay.
