This Video Is a Quick Guide to Reading Sheet Music

Learning to read music is like learning to read in another language. There are many dots, lines and symbols in the sheet music that tell you what to play and when. It all looks very intimidating at first, but this video will help you uncover some of the basics.

The most basic thing to understand when learning to read notes is that some notes will sound higher than others, which is also called pitch. In simple terms, the music sheet tells you the pitch of the note you should play. Although the video uses piano sheet music, these principles can be applied to other instruments as well. Watch the video for clear illustrations and the difference between pitch, rhythm, clef, quarter notes, and all the different notes.
