Bring the Clock Back to the Right in Windows 10

Windows 10 introduces Action Center, which houses your notifications and quick settings. It’s a handy panel, but its icon is on the far right of the taskbar. If you prefer the old days when your watch lived there, you can swap it.

Yes, it’s a tiny detail, but after years of getting used to the clock – plus the little calendar widget you can bring up by clicking on it – on the far right, toggling is a slight annoyance. Fortunately, there are some easy ways to get it back.

If you want to completely remove the notification area icon, you can do so in the Settings app. Just follow these steps:

  1. Open the start menu and type “taskbar”. Click on Taskbar Settings.
  2. In the “Notification area” section, click “Turn system icons on or off.”
  3. Uncheck the “Action Center” box.

After that, the Action Center icon will disappear and the clock will be on the right.

If you prefer a less destructive option that retains the Action Center icon, you can use a small tool called ClockPositionRighteousifier. Download the entire project from GitHub here . Extract it and navigate to the binaries folder. Launch the version for your computer (x86 for 32-bit computers, x64 for 64-bit computers) and the clock will automatically move to the right. Run it again if you want to discard your changes.
