Most (and Least) Punctual Airlines in 2016
If you’re flying this holiday season, you should do yourself a favor and fly the Delta and avoid the Frontier if possible, according to new Forbes research. The study used timely data from three years to select airlines with the most time and those with the most arrival and departure delays.
The data comes from the US Department of Transportation and includes flights during Thanksgiving and Christmas-New Years over the past three years.
Hawaiian Airlines is at the top of the list, but this is mainly due to favorable weather conditions. Delta was the best among the four largest carriers in the United States, with 86.07% of flights arriving on time. Here’s a complete list:
- Hawaiian Airlines – 91.75%
- Delta Air Lines – 86.07%
- Alaska Air Lines – 84.85%
- Virgin America – 79.37%
- United Airlines – 78.85%
- American Airlines – 77.73%
- JetBlue – 76.93%
- Southwest Airlines – 74.71%
- Spirit Airlines – 71.94%
- Border – 71.28%
The study also found that nearly all Virgin America aircraft operate with in-flight internet and Wi-Fi . Delta also has Wi-Fi on 90% of flights, making it probably the best option for airlines this holiday season given its internet connectivity.
