Get a Quick Shortcut to Google Photos From Your Camera App With This Setting

The default camera app probably has a shortcut to your phone’s gallery app so you can quickly access the pictures you just took. If you’d rather use the excellent Google Photos app , there is an easy way to add a shortcut to your camera.

To get a shortcut (as shown in the screenshot above), open Google Photos and follow these steps:

  1. Pull out the left navigation bar.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Toggle the “Camera Shortcut” setting.

Now, the next time you take a photo, you will see a shortcut to the Google Photos app. It won’t be permanent or replace the existing shortcut for the default gallery app, but it’s handy nonetheless. If you’re using stock Android, or your camera is already linked to Google Photos, this option may not be available, but it’s useful for anyone using a branded phone without stock Android.
