Simplify Thanksgiving Dinner With These 3 Ingredient Side Dishes
Cooking Thanksgiving dinner makes the kitchen hectic, and it would be nice to have a few simple dishes in stock with as few ingredients as possible. Luckily, Epicurious has put together a variety of recipes, each with three main ingredients, as well as ingredients like oil and salt.
Click the link below to see all of them, but one (or both!) Of the following is an easy way to make your big meal easier:
- Topping (1.5 lb sausage + 3 celery stalks + 1 lb cranberry bread): Fry the sausage in olive oil until browning. Add the diced celery and continue cooking until the sausage is steamed. Transfer everything to a baking dish, stir with bread, pour in a couple of glasses of water, cover with foil and bake at 350 ℉ for 40 minutes. Remove the lid and bake for another 20 minutes or so, until the top is crispy.
- Sweet Potato Casserole (5 1/2 lb sweet potatoes + 1 1/4 cups maple syrup + 2 cups pecan halves): Boil chopped sweet potatoes in a large saucepan with salted water until soft and drain. Heat half a cup of syrup in a saucepan and add the pecans, simmer and stir until the syrup evaporates, leaving delicious glazed pecans. Transfer to parchment and cool. Grind the remaining potato syrup until smooth, seasoning with salt and pepper. Transfer the potatoes to a prepared baking dish, sprinkle with candied pecans and bake at 350 ℉ for 40 minutes.
