Google Play Music Will Now Bring You the Music You Want, When You Want It
Google has a lot of confusing music services , but Play Music is one of the best out there and it’s getting a little better now. The new update, which is rolling out to the mobile and web apps, allows you to find the music you love at the right time in a new way.
The app has undergone a visual overhaul, diminishing the emphasis on the card-based interface it has used for so long (although the web version is still quite card-based). More importantly, the home screen of the app will now serve as a kind of personal DJ, suggesting the music that he thinks is most relevant to you at the moment.
According to Google, this is done using machine learning. Play Music will pay attention to when you are listening to certain music and suggest similar music at the same time. For example, if you always train on Mondays at 6:00 pm, the app will detect that you need a beast mode playlist around that time and will start delivering it (or music like it) every Monday at 6:00 pm. If you prefer something cool and relaxing in the evenings, this will change gears. That’s a lofty promise, so we’ll be interested to know if he’s really that smart.
