WhatsApp Supports 2-Step Verification, Enable It Now
WhatsApp is one of the most popular private messaging apps out there, so it’s a bit surprising that it doesn’t have 2-Step Verification support. A feature has now been added to the beta version of the app, so, as always, enable it now .
As noted by Android Police, the beta version of WhatsApp – at least back to version 2.16.341 – now has the option to enable 2-Step Verification in the settings. Please note, this is different from 2FA , but useful nonetheless. WhatsApp doesn’t use traditional accounts to log in, instead it uses your phone number, which someone might have if they, you know, take your phone. This method allows you to create a six-digit PIN that everyone must enter to log into your account with your phone number. It’s not as good as two-factor authentication, but better than nothing.
