Particle Makes It Easy to Connect Your Raspberry Pi to the Internet of Things

Many of the best Raspberry Pi projects involve connecting and controlling the Raspberry Pi from a distance. Particle is a web service that helps simplify this process a bit, and they have introduced a beta program that is being added to the Raspberry Pi.

Particle is essentially a cloud server that stores data and scripts that allow you to remotely control your Raspberry Pi. This essentially eliminates the need to run a server for a number of Raspberry Pi projects. Once you sign up for the beta, you have access to many public libraries so you can easily transfer data to your Raspberry Pi from anywhere. Particle.io is built for full-blown prototyping and is priced accordingly, but the free package is sufficient for one or two projects. Adafrut interviewed the founder about how it all works, in case you’re wondering. Otherwise, go to the Particle page to sign up for the beta program.
