Bear Is a Note-Taking App for IPhone and Mac That’s Simple Enough for Tasks, but Powerful Enough to Write Longer

iOS / Mac: There is certainly no shortage of a note-taking app , but Bear is an app that manages to balance several different popular styles and may suit you if you need more features than plain text offers, but not as much as something like Evernote.

In terms of features, Bear is very similar to the recently updated Apple Notes . You organize your notes in Bear using hashtags, you can pin notes to the top of the list, and it supports inline images. Bear is also geared towards programmers with a markup editor that supports a number of different programming languages. In general Bear supports basic Markdown for formatting text, but can also automatically format things like links and addresses. There is even a whole system for linking notes together.

What sets Bear apart from others is its ability to work as a writing tool with long forms. It has a focus mode that hides all the junk and only gives you a text editor to write with, and it supports exporting to PDF, HTML, and DOC when ready. Because of this, he manages to write down quick ideas or tasks, as well as take more complex notes.

Bear is free on Mac or iOS, but if you want to sync between your devices, you’ll need to shell out $ 14.99 a year for a subscription. However, the fact that you can check it out without paying anything makes it worth considering if you want something more than Apple Notes but don’t want to use something like OneNote or Evernote.
