All the Ways Dungeons and Dragons Can Prepare You for Real Life

Fortunately, playing board RPG games like Dungeons and Dragons or Pathfinder doesn’t carry the same stigma as before. This is great because, as explained in this TEDx talk, playing can help you a lot in real life.

As writer Ethan Gilsdorf explains in the video above, Dungeons and Dragons is a challenging game that trains a ton of skills that would normally be impossible to work with right away. You can practice teamwork, problem-solving creatively, and develop empathy. This allows you to try yourself in different personalities than what you might be in real life.

It’s easy to give up the practical advantages of a game built on magic spells, evil trolls, and fantasy worlds. However, if you are doing work that requires mental or creative work, a fantastic role-play exercise can help you train those muscles in your daily life.
