Transform Pumpkin Into the Perfect Halloween Party Drink Fridge
If you are hosting a Halloween party, you will likely have some pumpkins for carving or decoration. Turn steam into countertop refrigerators that keep drinks chilled and blend in with your spooky decor.
You will have better results with uncut pumpkins because you can choose the right size and shape for the cooler, but if you only have cut out pumpkin lanterns on hand, they will work too. Choose pumpkins that are wide and flat-bottomed. Cut off the top so that many drinks can be poured through the hole. If you are using a pumpkin lantern, cut the hole at the top slightly wider than it is. Peel the insides of the pumpkin and let dry a little.
When you’re ready to prepare the squash for drinks, place the bowl inside or lined with aluminum foil to trap the melting ice and prevent too much condensation from accumulating on the outside. Cover with ice, leaving enough room for drinks. As a precaution against condensation, you can place a plastic napkin or towel under the pumpkin.
