Double-Click the Edge of a Window on MacOS to Maximize the Window in That Direction

Minimizing and maximizing windows on a Mac is easy enough, but in How-To Geek they point out a little trick where double-clicking on the edge of a window forces it to maximize the window in that direction.

When you hover over the edge of the window, the mouse cursor usually changes to a double-headed arrow. Double-click there and the window will fully unfold in that direction. The same can be done in the corners.
