Rest of the Day: Google Project Fi Now Has Group Plans
Google Project Fi cellular customers can now add additional people to their plans for an additional $ 15 per user. Project Fi, in case you are not already familiar, is what is called MVNO and combines the main networks in itself.
- No matter how many people are using your Project Fi plan, the cost of data is still $ 10 per gigabyte. This means that you don’t have to deal if you want to add your entire family; you could probably get more family plan data from a large network. Also requires a Nexus phone. But if it’s just you and one other person, and none of you is collecting data, then this should be considered. [Google via The Verge ]
- In other news, the new Roku Premiere + and Ultra are better streaming boxes than the competition for a third of the price, Gizmodo says. These are the most up-to-date versions of the popular streaming box that support 4K and HDR. However, most people get along well with the express train . [Gizmodo]
- FCC fined Comcast $ 2.3 million for misleading billing methods. A couple million sounds like a slap in the face for a media giant, but at least that’s something. Adequate justice. [Gizmodo]
- The new UK £ 5 note works like a rough turntable. They are made of plastic polymer material; Come to think of it, this trick will probably work with any thin and sturdy card. But it can damage your records. Personally, I like the sound of vinyl more than digital (when played through five trills). [Sploid]
- As a mobile developer, it might be interesting to know that Instagram is using one of the main open source frameworks . IGListKit “defines how [they] take data from the server and turn it into fast, flexible lists.” Nice – I like flexible lists. [Engineering Instagram]
