New Squarespace in West Village
Squarespace makes it easy for anyone to create a website, but there is actually a large team of creative, talented people behind this service. The company just moved to a new site in New York and they look amazing. Here are some photos from their new workplace.
Squarespace’s new spaces combine beautiful aesthetics with luxurious, relaxing common areas for meetings and conversations. The actual workspaces won’t appeal to those who really don’t like open floor plans (because it’s a very open floor plan), but it looks like it’s a convenient place to show up for work every day. The photo above shows one of their hybrid spaces, right away from desks, where people can chat, get away from the hustle and bustle of an open workspace, or slip into a smaller meeting room. Here’s a look at one of the hybrid work / meeting rooms with a wall with a whiteboard for brainstorming:
And speaking of these very open floor plans, this snapshot of some of their workplaces will either make you want to work there, or make you flinch at the thought:
A Squarespace spokesperson explained some of the design motives behind their space:
While most tech companies have tried to combine their workplaces with adult playgrounds, we took a slightly different approach. Our goal was to create an environment in which creativity, comfort and collegiality could coexist. What’s more, as a company renowned for its commitment to design, we wanted our new office to reflect our personality. We have transformed what was once a loading dock into a hall dedicated to the work of some of the most talented artists of our time. (One of the artists featured in our space is Emile Lucas, a Squarespace client.)
Whatever you think of the workspace, the overall look of the office is exceptional. Here is a snapshot of their “front staircase” that looks into the office space itself:
And a view of the interior, where both floors are visible thanks to the abundance of glass, air and light:
Finally, let’s finish off the part of the office, which could be a conference room or just a place to relax, this is probably where I would sit and do all my work if I had a choice and if I could stay awake. …
Many thanks to Squarespace for the photos and virtual tour of their new offices!
If you have your own workspace to show off, share it with us by adding it to our Lifehacker Workspace Show and Tell Flickr pool . Make sure all photos you add are at least 1280×720 in size. Maintaining their 16: 9 aspect ratio also helps! Include a little text about what you used, how you came up with the design, and any other important details. If your smart organization and good design flair are striking, you could be the next workplace ambassador!
