Ditch the Annoying Duvet Cover and Try a Triple Sheet Instead
Duvet covers are known to be difficult to put on over a duvet or comforter, but if not used, things get dirty much faster. This hotel trick replaces the duvet cover with an additional, easier-to-clean sheet.
As Alex Kalita explains at Food52 , you’ll need two top sheets and a duvet, quilt, or other warm layer to complement your sheet. After you’ve pulled on the sheet, here’s what happens next:
- Place the bottom sheet on the bed so that it lines up with the head of the mattress.
- Place a warm layer on top of this sheet six inches below the head of the mattress and the first sheet.
- Place the second sheet on top of the warm layer so that it lines up with the first sheet at the head of the mattress.
- Take both sheets and fold them about six inches. Your warm layer shouldn’t fold yet.
- Stack all layers another six inches to secure the warm layer across the two sheets.
Now just finish dressing the bed as usual. Fold over excess, fold in corners, and fold in all pillows. Once you master the triple cover, it’s a lot easier than fiddling with a duvet cover, and doing laundry is a breeze.
