Facebook Messenger Lite Is a Stripped-Down App That You Probably Can’t Use Yet.
Android: Facebook mobile apps are notorious for using up battery power and resources . So, you’re probably going to love the stripped-down Messenger app that’s only 10MB in size, right? Well, it exists, but most countries cannot use it yet.
Facebook announced this version of its Messenger app for emerging markets including Kenya, Tunisia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Venezuela, with support for other markets coming “in the coming months.” For those operating in established markets like the US, it’s best to keep an eye on sites like APK Mirror for third-party downloads. However, keep in mind that there is no guarantee that the APK will appear or support your language.
While it’s understandable that Facebook won’t want to offer multiple messaging apps at once (it’s not Google , after all ), the lightweight Messenger app is pretty high up on users’ wishlists. For now, Facebook’s mobile site is still the best option for saving your phone’s resources , but hopefully the demand will push Facebook to roll out the app more widely.
