Facebook Marketplace Lets People Buy and Sell Nearby
Android / iOS: You’ve probably already seen people who sell products online through Facebook . The company has now decided to take part in the promotion with a new marketplace that makes it easier to buy and sell with people around you.
While this isn’t Facebook’s first attempt at letting people sell products through their site, it seems to be one of the cleanest. Go to the new Marketplace tab (currently rolling out to Facebook apps for Android and iOS) and you’ll see lists of things people are selling near you. You can search for specific items or browse categories such as Home appliances or Electronics.
If you want to sell something, you can post your ad relatively easily. Just describe what you are selling, add an image and price, and then provide a location. You don’t need to enter your specific address (thankfully), but you will need to meet with the buyer at some point, so be careful . The marketplace provides buyers and sellers with dedicated messaging tools for communication, so you don’t have to deal with letting potential buyers into your friends list or worrying about privacy settings just for communication.
