These Foods Will Help You Stay Hydrated.

One of the often repeated tips for dealing with dehydration is to drink eight glasses of water a day. Well, that’s a myth . Some of us need more or less, and how much you need changes from day to day. Plus, water isn’t your only option. You can also stay hydrated by eating many foods.

As noted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):

… you can get fluids through the food you eat. For example, bouillon soups and foods high in water, such as celery, tomatoes, or melons, can promote fluid intake.

And honestly, you can find many foods that contain a lot of water. Vox describes some of them in his article (link below 🙂

  • Strawberry
  • Lettuce
  • Pickles
  • Apples
  • Grape
  • Oranges
  • Yogurt
  • Broccoli
  • Potato
  • Corn

Their table also includes foods that you would not expect to be “moisturizing,” such as pasta, ice cream, hot dogs, and pizza. But dear reader, we are not telling you to substitute all of these foods and drinks for water to stay hydrated. After all, each of these foods contains added calories (and for some there are many), and water is calorie-free in nature.

Plus, three-quarters of your body isn’t made from pizza. You still need water.

You don’t need to drink 8 glasses of water a day. Eat these foods instead. | Vox
