The Google Play Store Is Now Available on Chrome OS, Adding Android Apps to Your Chromebook
Previously, the only version of Chrome OS that included Google Play was the beta version. It is available today in the widest stable release of Chrome OS. New features let you download any Android app to your Chromebook .
The Google Play Store contains the latest stable build of Chrome OS and works with both Acer Chromebook R11 and Asus Chromebook Flip. If you don’t have R11 or Flip, you can look forward to support in the coming months .
The update also adds a beta version of the Google Play Store, where you can download and run Android apps right on your Chromebook. As you would expect, this works better with some apps than others as they are designed for touchscreens, but overall it’s a good addition. Oddly enough, it looks like the Google Play Store is disabled by default, so you’ll need to go into settings and check the box next to “Enable Google Play Store on your Chromebook” after downloading the update.
