Flight prices were lower than they have been for a long time , and some places offer even better deals than others. Kiwi.com , a flight comparison site, has published data ranking the countries with the cheapest and most expensive flights.
They analyzed over a million flights from 75 popular travel destinations. From there, they ranked prices according to domestic and international flights. They explain their general methodology:
We’ve taken into account domestic and international flights from 75 of the world’s most frequently visited countries, calculating the average ticket price per 100 km, using seasonal and off-season travel costs for over a million trips. The study included a clear distinction between low-cost and legacy airlines to achieve the final country-by-country price index.
The cheapest countries overall were India, Malaysia, Russia and Portugal. India was the cheapest, with an average cost of $ 3.25 per kilometer. The most expensive flights were to the United Arab Emirates, with an average cost of $ 105.71 per 100 kilometers. Finland ranked second among the most expensive, averaging $ 50.98 per 100 kilometers.
Kiwi ranking tool allows you to sort by international and domestic flights. China had the cheapest international flights, while Canada had the most expensive. Of course, the data will differ depending on where you fly and from where, but it gives a good idea of prices in different directions in general.
