Use the Coffee Filter As a Temporary Basting Brush

Unfamiliar kitchens (such as in vacation apartments or mother-in-law’s homes) can really ruin your cooking game. If you happen to find yourself in one that doesn’t have a basting brush and need to roast a bird, don’t worry: a coffee filter can save the day.

As Rachel Tepper Paley explains in her MacGyvering Your Kitchen on Airbnb guide (fully described below), the coffee filter is absorbent enough to soak up all those delicious juices from the pan, but strong enough to deliver those juices to your chicken, goose, or something else without falling apart. Just make sure you are using a clean filter; nobody wants a chicken with ground coffee.
