IOS 10 Emergency Bypass Feature Makes Calls and Text Messages Without Any Restrictions

IOS 10 adds a new feature for contacts called Emergency Bypass. With this setting, you can make it so that every time a particular contact tries to contact you, your phone beeps.

First, emergency bypass works in both Do Not Disturb and Silent Switch on your phone, so you’ll only want to use it in potentially serious emergencies. You can also set it up for ringtone or text messages only, which is handy if you have someone who only calls in an emergency. Here’s how to set it up:

  1. Launch Contacts.
  2. Tap the desired contact, then tap Edit.
  3. Tap Ringtone (or tap Text Ringtone if you want text messages to be sent).
  4. Set the emergency bypass switch to On.

Now calls or text messages (or both) will come from this contact no matter what.
