Android Nougat Has Arrived and Is Rolling Out to the Latest Nexus Devices From Today

Android fans, today is a big day. After announcing Android N earlier this year, Google gave it a name and has released it for Nexus devices to date. Say hello to Android Nougat .

Among the biggest new features of Android Nougat, the OS will now support multi-window mode for most applications. Just press and hold the square Recents button to activate split screen mode and you can open two apps at the same time. It’s a precursor to the inevitable future freeform windows that we’ve already seen in the Android N beta. Nougat also includes the ability to respond to notifications directly from the shadow, merged notifications, and a host of other features that Google hasn’t announced.

Nougat will begin rolling out to the following devices today:

  • Nexus 6
  • Nexus 5X
  • Nexus 6P
  • Nexus 9
  • Nexus player
  • Pixel C
  • General Mobile 4G (Android One)

If you’ve used the official Android Beta program , you won’t notice much change, but you will still get the update to the latest version.
