How to Flip Android Notifications on Windows 10 Using Cortana

Windows 10 Anniversary Update is out today, and one of the coolest features deserves special attention. Now you can duplicate Android notifications from your phone to your computer and even control it with a few voice commands. You just need the Cortana app.

Google Now itself is pretty good, so you might not have worried about installing Cortana, but now there is a good reason. Starting with today’s Windows 10 Anniversary Update, Cortana has built-in ability to mirror your Android notifications as well as notify you of important things like missed calls, incoming messages, or low battery. To get started, follow these steps:

  1. Install the Cortana app for Android from the Play Store.
  2. Sign in with the same Microsoft account that you use on Windows 10.
  3. Once Cortana loads, slide down the left navigation bar and click on Settings.
  4. Tap Sync Notifications.
  5. (Optional) Here you can turn off basic features like low battery notifications if you want.
  6. Click “Sync App Notifications” to enable Android Listening Service if you want to mirror app notifications.
  7. Choose from the list for which applications you want to receive notifications.

Once you’ve set up Cortana on your phone, you can even control it remotely with a few commands. For example, on your desktop, tell Cortana “Find my phone” and she will find your phone on the map. You can also call it remotely to help you find it. On top of that, if you search for directions on your computer, you will receive a notification from the Cortana app, allowing you to search for the same directions in the mapping app of your choice. These are some pretty nifty features that might come in handy if you’re using Windows 10 and Android as your day to day drivers.
