Free Services You Can Get at Grocery Stores

Shopping for groceries can be time consuming , but according to money site Credit.com, you can get a range of free services at many stores.

Credit.com editor Constance Brinkley-Badgett notes that while stores don’t exactly advertise these free services, they usually offer them on behalf of customer support.

For example, if a store has a flower department, chances are it also has a florist who will prepare a bouquet for you. I experienced it myself. When I was buying flowers for a friend’s birthday, the florist at my local Ralph store offered to arrange them for me. It probably helped that there weren’t that many people in the store, but it was a useful service anyway.

Brinkley-Badgett adds that many grocers also sharpen their knives for you:

Did you know that the butcher at your local grocery store is most likely sharpening your knife? Is free? This is true. All you have to do is ask. It is better to do this early in the morning, right after the store opens, when the meat counter is not very busy. You can just drop your knives, shop, and pick up the knives along the way.

Pro tip: Buy inexpensive plastic knife covers to protect the blades and yourself during transport.

Many stores also offer free Wi-Fi, which will come in handy if you visit the store frequently. You can automatically connect to their Wi-Fi and cut down on data consumption while shopping, which comes in handy if you need to access your shopping list or recipes on your phone.
