Who Speaks at the Democratic Convention and How to Watch Live

Republicans wrapped up their convention in Ohio last Thursday, and now it’s time for Democrats to take the stage in Philadelphia. The Democratic National Convention (DNC) will be held from 25 to 28 July. Here’s who’s talking and how to film it all live.

How to tune in

As with RNC, there is no shortage of ways to tune into DNC this year. The official convention website will broadcast the entire event here . You can also watch on their YouTube channel .

And again, just like RNC, Twitter has teamed up with CBS to stream the event live , and you don’t need an account to watch.

As for the cable news outlets, CNN’s will offer day and night lighting, plus they will carry live coverage on the Internet and through your application CNNGo . Fox News will carry live coverage of his schedule in prime time, the C-the SPAN will be broadcast live from noon to 21:00 every day of the conference. PBS and NPR have teamed up to cover the event live from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm EST and through the PBS NewsHour YouTube channel . NBC and ABC will cover each conference day from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Monday theme “Together”

The event starts at 3:00 pm ET. First Lady Michelle Obama will speak Monday alongside Senator Bernie Sanders.

Activist Astrid Silva, DREAM (people who meet the general requirements of the Foreign Minors Development, Assistance and Education Act) will also speak at the event discussing her volunteer work on immigration reform.

Karla and Franziska Ortiz will also take the stage. Karla, an American citizen facing deportation for her parents, was featured in Clinton’s campaign video “The Brave.” Events are also planned with the participation of the Council of Veterans and Military Families, the Council of Labor and the Council of Faith.

Tuesday’s theme: “Life in the Struggle for Children and Families.”

Tuesday’s event kicks off at 4:00 pm ET, with former President Bill Clinton serving as the evening’s keynote speaker.

The evening also includes speakers from the Mother of the Movement, including:

  • Gwen Carr, mother of Eric Garner
  • Sibrina Fulton, mother of Trayvon Martin
  • Maria Hamilton, mother of Dontre Hamilton
  • Lucia McBeth, mother of Jordan Davis
  • Lesley McSpadden, mother of Michael Brown
  • Cleopatra Pendleton-Cowley, mother of Hadia Pendleton
  • Geneva Reed-Veal, mother of Sandra Bland

Other speakers scheduled for Tuesday will include Anton Moore, president and founder of Unity in the Community , and Dina Hobert, an advocate for the rights of people with disabilities.

For his part, former President Clinton will talk about his wife’s efforts “to change the world for the better for children, families and our country.”

Wednesday theme: “Working together”

The hammer will fall on Wednesday at 4:30 pm ET, with President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden speaking in the evening. According to the DNC website, they are expected to discuss “the high stakes in this election and how Hillary has the experience and strength to bring people together to solve serious problems and achieve results.”

Felicia Sanders and Polly Sheppard are also on the schedule for the day. They are two of three survivors of the shooting at Mother Emanuel Church in Charleston, South Carolina. The DNC schedule also includes events involving the Council of Veterans and Military Families, the Labor Council, and the Council for the Disabled.

Thursday “Stronger Together”

On the final evening of the event, which also kicks off at 4:30 pm ET, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and her daughter Chelsea are expected to take the stage together. Clinton will likely lay out her plans for the presidency and, according to the DNC, discuss “her belief that together we are stronger and that America is best when we work together to solve our problems.”
