Pallof Press Works Your Core When You’re Tired of Twists and Straps

When it comes to working your abs, back and hips, you are not limited to simple floor exercises. If you’re ready to move away from the plank and curl, try this cable machine exercise called the Pallof press.

Basically, you set up a cable car with a handle at chest level and then grab the handle and dodge the machine. You are now resisting the weight that is trying to pull you to the side. This means you need to engage the muscles in your back, shoulders, abs, and hips.

When you add movement, “press” appears. You can move the handle away from you, or move it vertically and try to push it up over your head. Both versions force your body to work even harder to stabilize the core as the direction of the stress changes. To end your workout, turn around and take another set on the opposite side.
