Apple Begins Payments on E-Book Payments, Check Your Amazon Account for Credits

If you purchased a Kindle book from Hachette, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, Penguin or Macmillan between 04/01/2010 and 05/21/12, you should have free money in your Amazon account right now.

The settlement stems from a 2012 case in which the Justice Department charged Apple and five major publishers with conspiracy to raise the price of e-books . So, if you purchased a book for your Amazon Kindle from one of these publishers, you are now eligible for a loan from Amazon to offset that. How much you get depends on how many books you bought and from which publishers. You should receive an email from Amazon with a breakdown, but you can also see how much credit you will receive on Amazon’s dedicated landing page . This loan works not only for e-books but for anything.
