Windows / Mac / Linux: If you want the desktop version of Google Hangouts, you have a variety of options , including the official one from Google , but the Google route doesn’t work very well and requires Chrome to run. YakYak is a desktop Hangouts client that works like a regular desktop application.
At its basic level, YakYak is a very simple little desktop Hangouts client that looks much like the Hangouts app from Google itself. In YakYak, however, you can choose from a variety of color schemes, including dark mode. You can also set up correct desktop notifications and the app will work without Chrome installed. If you’re a fan of the basic utilitarian version of the Google Hangouts app but want a little more control, check out YakYak.
