Strengthen Your Network Connections With Monthly People Checklists
Networking is more than just meeting a group of people. You need to keep in touch with those you know and make yourself valuable to them. A monthly checklist will keep you in the loop.
At the beginning of each year, Alison West , director of Yoga Union, uses Trello to create a to-do list for each month. She then puts the names of everyone she wants to stay in touch with on the January board and sticks a checklist to each person’s name. West’s checklist includes tasks such as “good advice,” “thank you,” “lunch,” and “someone to reach out to.” During each month, she performs one task per person every week. Once someone’s checklist is complete, she carries it over to the next month. West’s approach is like a game, and also a useful reminder to keep in touch with important people. Your checklist doesn’t have to be the same as hers, but it’s a good place to start when you’re writing your own.
