Microsoft Acquires LinkedIn for $ 26.2 Billion, the Deal Will Be Closed by the End of 2016

Microsoft today announced it will acquire LinkedIn for $ 26.2 billion. The deal will retain LinkedIn’s current CEO and the company will continue to operate independently.

The deal is expected to be completed by the end of 2016. The video above explains Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner. There is no indication yet as to how Microsoft intends to change LinkedIn in the new deal, if at all. Nadella said in a press release that he hopes the acquisition “will accelerate the growth of LinkedIn, as well as Microsoft Office 365 and Dynamics, as we strive to empower every person and organization on the planet.” This could mean that LinkedIn will partner with or even integrate with various business units of Microsoft, or it could simply mean that Microsoft wants to step into all areas of the professional world. Until then, we just have to wait and see.
