Build Your Own Auto Flickr Downloader With Raspberry Pi

Earlier this year, Flickr blocked its auto upload feature, which extracts image files from an SD card and automatically uploads them to Flickr via a paywall. If you don’t want to shell out $ 5.99 a month on it, GitHub user drcursor has a solution using the Raspberry Pi.

Basically, all you’re doing here is creating a simple Python script that will upload all of your photo files from your USB stick to Flickr (private view) when it’s connected to the Pi. When it’s done, the script will send you an email informing you that it’s ready and then unplugging the storage device. This is a very simple little program, but if you are annoyed with the paid access to Flickr and are still using the service, this is a good way to get around it.
