Jobs With the Highest Wage Increases

Average wage growth in the US has hovered around 3% over the past few years, but some industries are doing better than others. A recent Randstad report lists the best industries and jobs to raise wages.

The company looked at its own data, as well as data from the Economic Research Institute, to determine what the data looked like for a range of different jobs and industries.

Electromechanical technicians posted the highest percentage growth at 9.3 percent. Electronic engineers and computer engineers also added significantly in price over the national average of 8.3%. Here is their breakdown by maximum annualized wage increases:

Mechanical engineering : electronics / computer hardware (8.31 percent); mechanical engineer (7.38%); quality engineer (7.36%)

Information Technology: Network Engineer (7.21 percent) software engineer (5.48%); project manager (3.87%)

Manufacturing and Logistics : Electrical Technician (9.29 percent); assistant director of the plant (8.05%); maintenance manager (6.65%)

Office and administration : office manager (6.68%); call center representative – general calls (4.55%); Accounts Receivable Supervisor (4.50 percent)

As MarketWatch notes, just because these jobs are seeing the most growth does not mean that they offer the best potential for growth. Reporter Katie Hill explains:

For example, the Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that the number of jobs for electrical technicians will increase by 1% from 2014 to 2024. And, of course, you are not guaranteed to get promoted by working in these areas, and you may actually get a bigger leap by changing industries or jobs.
