Just because this trendy dishwashing drawer in your kitchen is called a dishwasher doesn’t mean it’s the only thing it can wash. You can also clean things like gardening tools and plastic toys with it.
As consumer advice site Clark Howard points out, many plastic or metal items that fit in a dishwasher can be safely washed inside. Things like stove knobs, waste bins, makeup brushes and heater lids can be cleaned thoroughly, and a dishwasher is a worthy candidate for the job.
In most dishwashers, you can usually remove the top rack to make room for larger items. Just make sure you don’t wash anything made of wood, cast iron, brass, or anything else that is sensitive to extreme heat or water.
