Create Simple and Vibrant Abstract Art for the Cheap

Art on the walls does make a home look like a home, but hanging your own art can make it look like a gallery. If you, like me, need guidance in the drawing department, check out the following tutorial from Dans Le Lakehouse.

The link below will walk you through the entire process, but you only need to buy three things: a large canvas, a large paintbrush, and some black acrylic paint. Turn the canvas upside down (to prevent the paint from spreading) and paint in large, wide strokes. Flip it over to see how you like it and apply more paint where you see fit. Play around with textures by dipping the brush in water before applying paint, or using a nearly dry brush for a feathery effect. It is also not necessary to stick to black paint. I love the edgy look of black on white, but change it to match your mood and setting. (Also, remember to have fun and don’t take it all too seriously; it’s just painting on canvas.)
