Have You Negotiated a Salary for Your Current Job?

While you shouldn’t be afraid to negotiate a higher salary , many of us don’t. This mistake can cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars over your entire career. We’re curious: did you negotiate a raise or starting salary?

Also, have you been successful?

In a survey of more than 2015 American adults, Glassdoor reports that the majority of employees – 3 out of 5 – took the salary offered to them rather than negotiating. Women negotiated less than men, and men were three times more successful than women at achieving higher wages. Age can also matter: 66% of workers between the ages of 45 and 54 agree to an initial paycheck.

Asking for more pay is scary, especially if it’s a new job or you’ve never asked for a raise before. However, if you can convince yourself of this , a simple question can improve your financial situation.
