Give Pancakes More Flavor With Infused Maple Syrup

Real maple syrup is pretty perfect on its own, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be tossed in from time to time. To add flavor to your pancakes and waffles, try one of these delicious syrup infusions from The Kitchn.

All five of their recipes speak to me deeply and meaningfully, but I’m mainly here for Manhattan Maple Syrup, as I’m all looking for new and exciting ways to include booze in my breakfast. To make this shake, mix 1 cup of pure maple syrup with a tablespoon of whiskey, two or three orange wedges, and a couple of maraschino cherries. Bring everything to a boil and cook for five minutes. Remove from heat and let the fruit steep for ten minutes, then remove the orange wedges.

You should of course sprinkle this on your favorite brunch, but I don’t mind dipping fried chicken in it. If you want to get really meta (and a little tipsy), you can add some Manhattan for a classic cocktail.
