Why Plants in Your Window Box Should Be in Separate Pots

Window boxes are a great way to add some greenery, flowers, and even fresh herbs without a lot of garden space, but when you plant, place your window box plants in separate pots so they don’t compete for water and soil so you can quickly change plants when you need to.

Growing each potted plant separately will keep them from fighting for root space and give you the ability to change plants depending on the season. Also, if the mint kicks in but the thyme isn’t doing very well, you can pull one out without damaging the other. Obviously, you will need to look for suitable pots, and plastic pots are ideal because they are lightweight and flexible. With a little effort, your little space garden can thrive even if all you need to grow on is a windowsill. Ideas for window frames in small courtyards | SF gate
