Ummo for IPhone Analyzes Your Speech to Improve Your Public Speaking
iPhone: Public speaking is always a little intimidating, but one of the best ways to overcome it is to prepare as much as possible. Ummo is an app that helps you get ready by analyzing everything you say.
To get started, just tap the microphone in Ummo, then practice your presentation. Ummo then listens to you and sends a small audio alert when you use placeholder phrases such as “well, you know,” and others (you can turn off this alert if you find it annoying). When you’re done, Ummo provides a variety of different statistics to help you analyze your speech, including the pace of your words per minute, general clarity, how many words you use, and where you pause. You can also create your own list of placeholders, which is helpful if you know you have a specific phrase that you don’t use as often.
It won’t do much to relieve the anxiety associated with public speaking when you are in front of a lot of people, but it can help you improve your tempo and give you an idea of what words you have.
