Evernote for Windows: Improved Search, Color-Coded Notebooks and Tags, and More

Windows: The latest version of Evernote makes it easy to navigate your notebooks, easily search your notes, and organize your notebooks and notes by color.

There are many great new features in this update. Let’s start with the sidebar: you can now hover over Notepads to access the search button or quickly add a new notebook, drag and drop notebooks to and from notebook stacks, and drag notes to the new highlighted trash icon in the sidebar. The shortcuts are still available, but are now in the top toolbar. (Saved searches, however, are MIAs, but Evernote says they plan to bring back previously saved searches “very soon.”

Search provides additional filtering options and suggestions to help narrow or expand your search:

My favorite new feature is the color-coded notepads and tags. Right-click a notebook or tag and select Style … to assign a color to it or add font formatting to your note titles. This is another level of organization that you can use for your notes to quickly identify them.

Check out the other improvements in the new Evernote for Windows in the blog post below, or simply update the Windows desktop app Evernote to try them yourself.
