How to Save Your Favorite Windows 10 Lock Screen Images

There is a looping rotation of pretty good photos on the Windows 10 lock screen. If you want to save the found images, you can find them on your hard drive here.

As the tech tips site How-To Geek points out, there is no easy way to get images on your Windows 10 lock screen. Luckily, you can find the images on your computer. Here’s how to find them:

  1. Make sure hidden folders are visible by opening an Explorer window and choosing Show Hidden Items from the View tab.
  2. Go to %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Assets
  3. Copy the files from this folder to another location on your computer where you can easily find them. Create a dedicated folder for these images.
  4. In an Explorer window for the new folder, open Command Prompt as Administrator from the File menu.
  5. Run the following command to add the .jpg extension to all the files you just copied: ren *.* *.jpg

You will be left with a mixture of images and a few different junk files that are used on the lock screen. You can delete any unnecessary images. Again, make sure you’re only working from the folder dedicated to the images you copied from the lock screen folder, as the rename command can mess up other files if you’re not careful.
