Build a DIY Amazon Echo With a Raspberry Pi

The Amazon Echo is a pretty nifty little device, but both options cost $ 180 for the Echo and $ 130 for the Amazon Tap. If you’d like to create your own, YouTube user Novaspirit Tech will walk you through how to do it with your Raspberry Pi.

To build this DIY Echo, you will need a Raspberry Pi, USB soundcard, external speaker, and a button. This button is also a gimmick. Similar to the just announced Amazon Tap , the Pi version requires you to press a button before you can initiate voice commands. This caveat might put off many, but it’s a pretty cool project anyway, and once you get it set up, you have plenty of options to customize it to your liking. Go to the YouTube page and find all the links you need to create your own.
