Seven Electronics Board Functions You Need to Know
There are a large number of different boards for electronics on the market today, but almost all of them have a similar set of basic functions. Make Magazine describes seven of those features that almost any master should become familiar with.
Whether you’re talking about a Linux-enabled board like the Raspberry Pi or something simpler like the Arduino, they all have a few things in common. Make Magazine highlights seven different phrases and whiteboard sections you’ll want to know:
- Computing : Familiarize yourself with the main chip or processor on your board. They are all quite different, but you can tell how to recognize one by looking at a few.
- Indication : Know your flashing LEDs and what they are doing.
- Reset : Most boards have a reset button that will help bring your board back to life if you ruin it.
- Power : Your board is receiving power and can send power to other devices, so find out your voltage and how things work.
- Interoperability: This usually refers to I / O (I / O). Depending on the board, you often have pins that allow you to connect your device to other devices.
- Communication : This refers to communication functions such as Bluetooth, USB, or Wi-Fi.
- Mounting : Most boards have mounting holes, so you can screw the board into the case. Know where they are and how they work.
