1Password Family Plan Shares Passwords Among Family Members, but Still Provides Personal Accounts

1Password introduced a new family subscription today. For $ 5 a month, up to five family members get full access to 1Password’s suite of apps and services.

With a family account, 1Password automatically creates a shared password system so everyone in the family can easily access passwords for services like Netflix or a home router. As you would expect, you can also share everything stored in 1Password – from credit card numbers to financial statements – with one click. Of course, what you choose to share is completely up to you, and each family member gets their own account.

The pricing model is a little curious as you can technically buy 1Password for $ 50 and use it on six computers . The appeal of the family plan seems to come from the administrators of control. Parents can lock passwords so kids can’t accidentally change them. Plus, the fact that the monthly fee gives everyone full access to all 1Password apps and features makes pricing a little less confusing in the long run.
