Here’s How to Turn Off the Annoying New YouTube Recommendation Notifications

In the world of YouTube, the next possibly trendy video is so important that you need to be notified immediately . For those of us living in reality, here’s how to stop YouTube from shoving suggested videos into your notification bar.

YouTube has sent new video notifications for long-subscribed channels. However, as noted by Android Police, the app has now started sending out recommended video notifications. For the layman, that means Google has improved videos it thinks you might like, from YouTube sidebar to your phone’s notifications. It’s kind of a big leap forward, YouTube.

Luckily, you can turn them off. When you see the toast notification, you can click Options to go to a menu where you can turn them off. Or do the following:

  1. Open the YouTube app.
  2. Press the menu button and select “Settings”.
  3. Select Notifications.
  4. Deselect the Recommended Videos checkbox.

You can also turn off notifications for videos you follow from this page, but you probably need at least some of them. After all, you have subscribed to these channels. However, featured videos that are not fully requested can probably be removed.
