This DIY LEGO Table Will Keep Kids Entertained and Lay Out Their Bricks

Getting kids to put away toys every time is nearly impossible, and there’s nothing worse than stepping on a thrown LEGO brick. Make this LEGO play table for them to give them room to build (and lay) their bricks.

The materials are inexpensive enough that you can make one for each child, or even add extras in case a friend comes to visit. Here’s what you need:

  • Round profile 1/4 ″ x 3/4 ″ x 8 ′
  • 2 x 2 x 34 “or more pine or pressure treated wood cut into two 17” pieces.
  • IKEA LAKK Side table
  • Storage box IKEA TROFAST
  • Construction glue (liquid nails, wood glue or any equivalent)
  • LEGO base plate
  • nail finishing
  • spray paint (optional)
  • 2 x 1/4 ” screws
  • Screws 1 3/4 “

Cut a ½ “x ½” notch on one side of the two 17 “wood planks. You may need to sand down the notches to get the storage box in smoothly (you end up with a lego storage box). If you prefer, spray paint the railing to match your desk. Assemble the LACK table, place the storage box under the rails and attach the rails with 2 ¼ ”screws. Use 1 ¾ ”screws to prevent children from pushing the box too deep under the table. Cut the trim so that one piece fits on each side of the table, then attach with building glue. Attach the LEGO base plate to the center of the countertop using the same glue.

If your kids already have another container that they use to store their LEGO bricks, you can skip the drawer. This DIY table and storage basket is also suitable for other small toys like dolls or toy cars. For a full visual walkthrough click the link below.
